An Android soaring forecast app was developed to help consolidate various forecasts and information useful for soaring(aka gliding) pilots. To help with assessing soaring conditions a customized version of Windy was added via an Android webview.
Android open source at: https://github.com/efoertsch/SoaringForecast
App in Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.soaringforecast.rasp (note that code in Github may be ahead of latest app release as the app is still being developed as time permits).
@Ivo Thanks. How can I use 'sst' overlay? Is it only available under 'ecmwf'? Because I can set it on your main site, but I cannot set it in the examples (using chromes console). I can see "sst" in the allowed list but it returns Uncaught (in promise) undefined when I try to set it
ok so I was able to get a tms layer working by doing this
map.baseLayer.options.tms = true;
map.baseLayer.options.maxZoom = 18;
map.baseLayer.options.minZoom = 2;
map.baseLayer.options.opacity = 0.50;
map.baseLayer.options.attribution = 'NOT TO BE USED FOR NAVIGATION'
but the opacity doesn't seem to be registering so I don't see any windy weather also the attribution isn't shown.
Any help on this would be appreciated, I know the tiles are full on images but if there is a level of transparency then I should see some weather behind it, I also don't mind being aggressive with the transparency to show the weather better
You can use embedded version of the Windy without charge: https://www.windy.com/-Embed-widget-on-page/widgets?50.383,13.267,5
But it can not be modified. If you want to make some new product, you must use the API.

love what you all did with the lat long distance thing (and am looking for pointers on how to accomplish something similar. https://scrabblewordfinder.vip/ https://www.applock.ooo/ https://www.7zip.vip/
I have a page under development where I can easily get one or more markers on the Windy map and want to have a translucent window with information for the markers (my info and windy and temp data) that changes when I move the time slider at the bottom.
Any help / direction on where to get help on this would be huge to me and I would be very appreciative.
Thanks so much!!
my issue got solved!!
Hi, I just checked the picker example (https://api4.windy.com/examples/picker/) and it works for me even for mobile devices.
You just have to style the picker for mobiles, Windy API does not care about responsivness, you need to handle it on your own.
I've faced such kind of issue recently. I tried removing global W, but this didn't work for me. However, I've found a solution.
The point is that we use Backbone.js framework in our project. it is an MVC framework which separates it's views from other componenets by creating something like virtual scope for each view.
Therefore I simply included initialization of windy into one of the views. When I need to start windy I create the view and render it on the page. After finishing working with it i dispose the view by calling it's unbind() and remove() methods. Seems like this operations somehow manages to clear the page's scope from all Windy's records.
When I am to show the forecast map again I initialize the view again and render it as it has never been created before. The map is been created succesfully and without any significant redundant artifacts like we all got used to encounter.
Hope this helps. If somebody is interested in any further details or examples, please contact me via email firstname.lastname@example.org.
