Webcams - icon colour to denote if a live webcam

Hi - some great storms around the Midwest at the moment and the webcam layer has been great in seeing what’s happening on the ground. However, it’s not clear which webcams are ‘live’ as opposed to those that roll static images, sometimes hours apart.

For those that are live, could they be coloured purple - or a colour of choice - maybe green, and others are orange or something?

Gpx route and webcam display

If webcams didn't vanish or became inaccessible when a GPX route was displayed, it would be beneficial. Without losing the GPX overlay or needing to recall the locations of the cameras, this would enable users to preview the weather and trail conditions throughout their intended path. Route planning and the user experience would be much enhanced by the ability to toggle webcam visibility while the GPX track is still on the map or to keep both the route and webcam markers visible simultaneously.

Webcam integration broken after website updated

Hi, we're trying to get the webcam operational again on windy after moving our hosting provider of the website. I've already submitted a request to change the endpoint over 3 weeks ago but have heard nothing back. The old URL still works in a browser but does a bit of a janky image replacement using js which might not be compatible with windy.

The old webcam is here but is no longer public:

I've also setup a static site which hosts the same image over at https://roofcam.castlerockedinburgh.com/
with the static image available on https://roofcam.castlerockedinburgh.com/roofcam_latest.jpg

Could someone look into why this webcam is no longer appearing?

How to add location on a new webcam?

Hi @espenas , the inability to add the exact location of cameras is a bug we're aware of, and it should be fixed in the next update. If you send me the camera's identifier (e.g., the URL you enter for it) and the exact latitude and longitude, I'll update the information in the system. You can do it either here, or use mail webcams@windy.com. Thank you!

Hi, we're very sorry about the delay. For safety and tagging reasons, we need to manually review every new webcam. Unfortunately, there was a bit of a surge of new webcams recently. We have strenghtened the team that handles webcam approvals, but they still have a few thousand webcams to go through, so it might take a few weeks until your webcam is reviewed.

So many incorrect locations - NHDOT in Maine?

I corrected two in the last couple of days that were clearly NH DOT cameras plopped in to the State of Maine - nowhere near the NH border, either. Just found a third with no context clues and I could probably figure out where it goes but WTH? Why are these all showing up with wrong Lat Long?? Probably because anybody can "correct" them would be my guess.

@WinnieMP I've had the same issue with my webcam, I've submitted it multiple times, I think it may have been rejected for some reason. In recent weeks, we’ve been dealing with a high amount of newly submitted webcams and since they are subject of approval by our admins (as well as webcams’ suggestions), it takes us a bit longer than usual - sorry for that. We have a large number of cameras in our system, and without more detailed information, it is difficult for us to determine which cameras you are referring to. Could you please send an email to webcams@windy.com with an example of 2 or 3 cams, ideally with their Windy ID (you can find this by opening the camera on Windy via a web browser, as shown in the screenshot below, or you can paste the whole URL). For each camera, please provide the exact or at least approximate location where it is actually located, ideally as coordinates. Thank you very much for your help. Webcam history is all wonky

Hi, I noticed the same issue, see for example: https://www.windy.com/webcams/1659198642?satellite,53.473,-2.387,8,p:cams If I select 30 days there are images from 8/11, 9/11, 10/11, 13/11, 21/11, 25/11 and 2/12. Another example: https://www.windy.com/webcams/1654603772?satellite,49.126,7.105,8,p:cams Here there are images from 8/11, 9/11, 10/11/, 17/11, 26/11, 29/11 and 5/12. Both webcams have been working perfectly and are in completely different locations. It looks like the issue started on 10/11, since then daily images have not been saved correctly.
