  • RE: Where are the migrated alerts?

@Suty said in Where are the migrated alerts?:

    What exactly are you missing?

    We are missing:

    • Alphabetical ordering
    • The possibility of searching (not using the browser's text search menu option; Ctrl-F goes to Windy's search box, which is not useful for this function as it does not search Notifications)

    That's essentially it.

And then we would also need:

    • The ability to filter by a maximum amount of rain, not a minimum (it might be useful for a farmer, but for the vast majority of sports, what is needed is just the opposite)
    • The ability to export and manage the Notifications list properly

    Easy solutions:
Go back to the previous functionality, with Favorites

And fundamentally: if you ask us what we are missing, it is that you have not tried or do not use these functions, because the changes are clearly for the worse. It is a practically inoperative list and it doesn't even work correctly to move the notifications. Try it and you will see. It's easy.

  • RE: What does this towering cloud mean? A friend who lives there said it's not raining.

@mbmpc ,hi,looks like a huge altocumulus lenticularis complex,, like cutlery stacked on top eachother , gives little precip (mostly virga), occurs mainly due to strong mtn winds ( adiabatics)

  • Inoperative notifications with the new system

The new notification system cannot be sorted, searched, or even moved manually (it works sometimes and sometimes it doesn't).

Please, at the very least, provide an option to sort them or, at the very minimum, have them sorted alphabetically, so that we can manage them.

That's how it's a horrible system. Or more simply: go back to the previous system of Favorites and alarms.

    Please 🙏

  • RE: Fog report

@Bearfrost , hi, first and foremost its important to tell which part of the world you live (country, part of country, inland ,coastal, lakeislander, mountains, arctic polar, dry desert etc)

also which models you use on windy.com

and just on behalf of windy, say that windy delivers weather forecast model data and not in-situ visual observations...(other than wind temp and precip reported by wxstations around the world delivered by you all)

because that is actually your job to do(lol)...

and fog are really a foggy forecast to bullseye, because its so local and appears with a huge risk of failforecasting on macroscale models, and strives hard even on microscale. so be the observer and accept that superdupercalculating megacomputers aint better than yourself at times ,

so become an uploader of your wx data to windy and otherwx sites.

windy is a superb deliverer of forecast models but doesnt make The Weather

  • RE: Cloud History and Adding Personal Weather Station

@cmariepurple , hi, as a premium user ,you shouldve acces to the satelitte archive... so windy may answer better than me on that matter

( if not, zoomearth has a lot of sat imagery and also earthschool backlogs cloud cover forecasts graphics( not images)... or you could try

    https://apps.sentinel-hub.com/eo-browser

that has a ton of images if youre really desperate

i bet met office has some kinda material too, an email to them might help, if its utterly important

hope this might be helpfull, i might know more sites, but ill stop here cause this is kind of advertising other weather sites)

i cannot tell how to connect your station, cause its 15 years since i sent to W.U. and cwops, which i gave up in the bitter end due to my pc's hang to hang up during the diurnal cycle .

but may i ask what wx station ( and data logging software( weatherlink etc)) you use???

good luck and happy new year

Hello, I am Khalil from Morocco, specifically from the north-east of Morocco, from the city of Oujda. So I am wondering whether snow will disappear in the far north-east of Morocco, meaning the city of Oujda and its surroundings, because the drought has begun to kill me and my area is known for snow and rain, but the situation is truly catastrophic. I hope you will answer me. Your brother Khalil from Morocco Thank you

  • RE: Fronts

@pilotbk ,this article may show the complexity for w.m. to show accurate frontlines

    https://ncics.org/cics-news/using-a-neural-network-to-detect-weather-fronts/

read meteorological litterature, study maps at different heights, where temp and thickness are very important, 550hpa is a clever start level to study if newbie and not digging in microclimate.

  • Manual sorting of Notifications by dragging does not work many times

    I have tried several browsers.

By dragging notifications, sometimes they stay where you have released the mouse and sometimes they don't. And I've tried all locations, browsers, cookies, restarting, etc.

I am a computer tech and ex-programmer. There is a bug. The logical thing is that there is a way to sort or search, because having to sort manually is something from the pleistocene. At least it should work. Thanks
