Upper-Level Heights
-
Are there plans to add upper-level height overlays? Such as the 500mb decameter heights. I know a lot of times forecasters use the 528 decameter line to get a rough idea of snow potential, so this might be a useful tool to have, heights with a slider bar to adjust the level of the atmosphere you want to look at.

@kl13470
With the "height slider", select 500hPa,
then "More layers..."
-
.......
scroll down to "Display isolines" and click "Geopot. height"

May I add that Windy shows Geopotential heights in meters whereas they are usually shown in decameters (dam).
As shown above by @Gkikas-LGPZ, the 528dam is the 5280m isoline. -

Yes, back in the good old times when (we) forecasters
had only a surface and a 500 mbs forecast chart,
we use the 528 isoline to forecast snow
(or we use some other practical rules)
but now, thanks to weather models, we have snow forecast maps.

Weather models forecast snow by using a lot of parameters,P.S. if you have time, read this https://community.windy.com/topic/7239/snow-forecast-using-sounding-forecast?=1642089339722

@gkikas-lgpz Thank you so much! I've been using Windy for years now and never even noticed this function

Hi, it is a pity that Windy never made the temperature correction that you were proposing in your link.
It would bring a better accuracy for temperature and rain/snow limit in mountains. -

Yes you are right, these are the useful links.
