Recently I noticed how “reported wind” from ships was missing.

Has this data now been removed from the app?

I don’t think so. For me, on the iOS app, Reported wind from weather stations at sea is still available.

BTW most of these weather stations are not ships but buoys. Windy call them all « ship » except ,for example in North Sea, where gas platform are considered as aerodrome « ad ».

Thanks. Yeah I know they’ve kept the sea stations which are usually Rigs, but not too long ago they showed live wind from ships via the VOS scheme (Voluntary Observing Ships).

Perhaps Windy can’t get a license to use the data any more. It’s a shame as it is tremendously useful to see if the forecast is accurate to the reported weather offshore.

It seems there are less ships in data of weather stations at sea shown by Windy. Most of them are buoys. But there are still some.

Today at 1200 UTC, the National Buoys Data Center reports only 35 ships sending data

For example this one at the moment near the equator in Atlantic with the DBBH call sign.

Oh hang on. It’s all showing again. Plenty of shops in Biscay reporting. For the last week I couldn’t see any.

Your image has not been uploaded, because too large. You must reduce its size before uploading.

Yeah I know. Can’t resize easily on my phone without faffing around a lot. Odd the windy devs have such a basic community forum. Plenty out there that could handle all the basic forum functions on various platforms.
