Map projections

How about some different options for map projections? The default mercator is okay, but personally no big fan of that specific projection. A globe would of course be a nice option, everything else would be dependent on how you would implement it. Winkel Tripel is always an idea. But especially the higher latitudes are quite distorted at this moment.
