Is there a way to turn off smoothing and just have it in a range?
I have changed the new snow to be more of what the NWS use in the US and with it being blending it gets hard to read the white text on yellow background or ability to change the text colors?
If you want some help or suggestion, it should be better to post here a screenshot of the modification you have done on New snow. And show what NWS use in the US.
So this is what I have currently and this is what the NWS US has.
Your color scale using the color scale of NWS is almost ok. But note there is an orange hue missing and you have added a purple hue. So your colors are shifted.
The smoothing cannot be turn off on Windy. So the way to get a scale similar to the NWS color scale, without smoothing, is shown on this table.
You must have 2 lines with the same color. For example:
4.1 ft deep blue
5.9 ft deep blue
NWS use deep blue between 4 and 6ft.
Between 4.1 and 5.9 ft the color will be uniform with a small smoothed transition below 4.1 and above 5.9 ft.
It’s pretty tricky to do that in the Windy color table because you must to have 2 times more lines.
The easiest way is to modify the code itself.
Below the table, on Import/Export line, press [View Code] to open a pop up window.
Copy all lines of code in this window and paste them in a word-processing software.
Duplicate all lines of code and modify the feet scale as in the column New scale of the table here above.
When the code is ready, delete the old code in the pop up window and paste the new one.
Press [Import gradient], then press Save
Concerning the yellow color which is too bright, I suggest RGB(200,200,100) instead of (254,254,165)
It would be nice that you show us your new Snow depth layer.
Looks much better.
While not perfect it's more of the gradient
It looks fine
But I don’t really understand what you mean when you say « it’s more of the gradient ». Sorry I’m not english language native
Could you show me a picture of your new Settings table for Snow depth as you did for the old one?
What i mean is that it's not blending as much as the other one
You have now a superb color scale. I just realize that I was talking about feet when of course the color scale is in inches.
You may want to reduce the blending specially for smaller snow depth. You just need to reduce the gap between each colors steps. For instance:
0 - 0.09 Grey
0.1 - 0.9 Very light blue
1 - 1.9 Light blue
2 - 2.9 Sky blue
3 - 3.9 Blue
i.e. all figures like x.1 rounded to x .... except 0.1
If you are perfectionist you may also try to change all figures like x.9 by x.99. It should work.
