Customize the color scales of Windy layers
-
I've customize this color scale based on wind force and hurricane scales. Red is used for tropical storm/gale force winds, as the winds are dangerous enough to produce certain damages. Light white/purple indicates hurricane force winds (Category 1), and grey is used for major hurricane (Category 3). Dark blue indicates winds for jet stream and other extremely rare winds. -
There are ligth thunder and thunderstorms color in color scale for type of precipitation. Why are they not used?
-
@Damir120505 Hello, what do you mean exactly? You can customise colors for each layer.

There are used. If no lightning is forecast by the model, Windy cannot show colors !

@Damir120505
OK that’s clearer with a screenshot. There is no obvious reason to have these lines and colors in the Precipitation type color scale.
Developers should have a look at it. -
@Damir120505 @idefix37 Hi, this does not look as screenshot from Windy.com. What browser do you use?
-
@Korina
It is a screenshot from Windy. Same as you I was on the point to give the same reply. -
@idefix37 Yes, but the UI is different.

-
@idefix37 Thank you, I can see it now, we will have a look at this.

The colors of Precipitation type layer can be now customized. That was not the case one year ago. See the post of @Miguelito67 here above who was asking this feature.
https://community.windy.com/topic/10336/customize-the-color-scales-of-windy-layers/3So it is a recent change.

I'm using Google Chrome.
-
I adjusted the color scale so that it shows jet streams.

@mayq36qi
Interesting, but at sea surface you ignore the winds below 40 knots !

Hi I've already customized few layers, but I can't find the meteoradar layer in the list. Why it can't be customized?
I've always wanted to change the colour for storms that exceeds 60dBz.
It helps to recognize poverfull storms which could produce hails and other dangerous things.
Thanks for the answer. -
@pep2406 Weather radar scale cannot be customised, but thanks for the feedback.

How to change the base color of weather radar?
I have modified other colors with different reflectance, but when I modified the color of 0dbz, it didn't work, and this only occurs in weather radar.
-
@lanyou1250
You can delete the black color clicking on the small bin, but it seems there is no way to replace the grey background by another color.By the way, you don’t need to keep all the intermediate steps when you want a discrete scale (not smoothed)
-
@idefix37
Thanks for answering!
If the gray background cannot be replaced, I hope the official team can also add the ability to change the background color of the weather radar ( I really want to change the darker color).
I will optimize the color layer, thank you for your reminder! -
