How to add your webcam to Windy

Join the Windy community and make your webcam available to worldwide audience.

There are 2 options to add a camera to Windy.com, depending on your camera brand, your skills and network options.

1. Directly

Windy servers need permanent access to the latest snapshot (not video) of your webcam using image URL address. To do so, you need to:

Make camera IP address accessible from the internet:

Have public IP address for your network
Set port-forwarding in your router

Have a supported camera (see below)
Submit a camera to Windy via this form and wait for approval

You can add views to your webcam during the submission process, they identify what area the webcam captures and will also determine what category and title is assigned to each webcam.

What happens after submission?

Once you submit your webcam application, we will review your webcam and test if downloading data on regular daily basis is possible, therefore it is important to provide us with a correct image URL. Webcam approval usually takes a few days.

If approved, you will be notified about the successful submission and your webcam will go live!

How long does it take to add a camera? At least the approximate time.

Every time I add a new camera, I get an email with no content. Why?

Hi @Sevno, could you please send us more information on - info@windy.com preferably with the no content email you received as well? We will have a look at it.
Once you submit your webcam form, it goes into assessment and it may take 1 - 2 working days.

I'm not sure what I am doing wrong but I've spent 5mins so far trying to find the form to add a camera?

i'm a bit disappointed. I saw a link, suggesting we can now add WebCams to Windy. So I spent quite a bit of time tracking down a good WebCam for a small town near me, and filled out the form. When I got to the final part, there was a checkbox to confirm I'm the owner of the WebCams. well I'm not, because it's a publicly available image. So I wasted a bunch of time and couldn't add anything.

It would help if you said right up front that you can only add WebCams that you operate yourself.
