Setting a mark works top middle of screen only

When touching any place on the map, only places a mark at the same spot...center screen near the top. Using a brand new iPhone 11. This is a new behavior

Yes this is like that on iOS phone app and this not at all new. The weather picker is set in the middle of the screen and you just need to move the map with your thumb to place the location under the picker

Right, on iPad it is similar to the desktop version.
