Alerts - New Snow (pick days)
-
Hi Windy team,
As an Australian that loves to chase snow in NSW highlands, I really love having the snow Alerts notification.
My suggestion is to have the 'At least _cm of snow must fall in the previous 3 days" change to have accommodate 1 to 3 days as we don't get many days in certain areas here where the snow falls for 3 days in a row.
Even if we can pick the amount of days inside the New Snow section (1, 2, 3 or 4 days) would be fantastic!
Also I've checked through the community comments about Push Notifications to mobiles ( iOS and android ) and if we receive them with our Alerts, I haven't had any and have to rely on email notifications.
Many thanks Windy team, you are all amazing!!!!!!!!!!

« x cm must fall in the previous 3 days » does not means that it will snow during 3 days in a row. It may be 1, 2 or 3 days cumulating a certain amount of snow.

@idefix37 I confess that I find this wording v confusing as well :"At least _cm of snow must fall in the previous 3 days"
If this is an alert (ie a warning of a future event), then why does it address snowfall in the previous 3 days?
I think this is about wording, rather than a functional issue. My understanding is that this a prediction of a future moment when there will have been x amount of snow in the previous 3 days? But how far in the future does this look? I would like to use this to plan ski trips ahead (eg is it worth buying a flight next weekend?) so it's not much good if it is telling me that today there has been 3 days of snow!
To be clear, definitely not complaining, just hoping to help the clarity. Thanks to the team for this excellent app

This thread is 6 years old, and the feature has been added?

It's true that this wording is surprising at first glance. However, it's quite logical.
If you specify that your alert should be triggered after “x cm of snow must fall in the previous 3 days”, it can only be triggered after that amount of snow has been predicted to accumulate over these 3 days.
For example, if snow is forecast for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, the alert will be triggered for Wednesday because there will have been enough snowfall during the last 72 hours. Perhaps replacing "last 3 days" with "last 72 hours" would make it clearer.
However, I have this question to Windy Administrators: When forecasting Tuesday, will the amount of snow predicted for Monday be included in those 72 hours? Because Windy doesn't store forecasts from previous days. Otherwise, it means the alert will disappear for Wednesday even though the x cm accumulation will be reached on Wednesday during the last 72 hours! Or does the cumulate data is provided directly by the ECMWF model? -
Maybe there should be a snow depth alert then? Since Windy does not store data then if 10cm of snow fell. then the snow depth should be 10cm on the Wednesday?

@WeatherMan10
No it is the user who specify the snow amount, not Windy. -
I think there is a miscommunication error.
I mean; that there should be a snow depth alert. I know that windy does not store data about snow, so if there was a snow depth alert then on Day 3, there would be that amount of snow on the ground hence triggering the Alert.
I hope it makes sense.

I was talking about an alert on the 2nd and eventually on the first day.
It is not the snow depth on ground, but the accumulation of snowfall. That’s a bit different.
