Default settings

See this related post about default data layers and the reasons the UI forces them
-
@kaipeterg Hello, customisable things are only in settings, weather models or layers cannot be modified. Default layer is Wind with ECMWF model. Windy Premium offers 1 hour forecast instead of 3 hour blocks.

@korina
Hello,
I just got Premium member. Thx for your great work.
However, please check again if it's possible to change default weather forecast model. Icon is much more accurate, than ecmwf.
I'd be willing to accept slower loading speeds, if i could get rid of this annoying manual model change any time the app opens. -
@complecz Hello, I am glad it is working for you.
We will think about this during the next development process.
-
I too need to change the default forecast model from ECMWF to METEOBLUE. Very annoying that it switches back. ECMWF is never accurate for my area.
-
@abrooker Thank you for your opinion, we gather all the feedbacks.
-
@abrooker Me too. Meteoblue works well in my location, ECMWF not so much. I think our state met service must use that one too because their predictions are also hopeless.
-
Premium member here. I would like to be able to change the default forecast model too.
-
Hi @tepepa, thank you for your feedback, we will take it into account.
-
Hi ! Another vote to get a "Default model" option in Settings (I would like to set AROME by default for France) ! Thank you for your consideration, and for your incredible app !
-
Please add this, it is great app but this is one of few things that hold it back.

This thread could also help (as a workaround, not as a solution).
-
@korina I believe there is a certain error in saving the settings, and my saved dew point temperature is invalid every time I log in
-
Hi @ting1990, the default layer can be set in the Menu > Settings > Startup layer and location.
Right now, there are few layers that can be set as default, and Dew point temperature isn't one of them. -
Another premium user here also wanting to pick my chosen default forecast model.....Meteoblue is way more accurate for me....And Why cant I have it default to 1 hour forecasts??? thats the main reason I upgraded in the first place.... extremely annoying to have to click and change forecast model and period every time...
-
As said above, this thread could help (as a workaround, not as a solution).

@salaud Hi, we appreciate your feedback, it will be considered for the future releases.

Hi. I'm also a premium person and want to change the default forecast model. The European one isn't even close to correct I'm the Seattle area. It is surprise that with an app like windy, that has an amazing amount of settings, one can't change the default forecast model. It's very surprising. It makes me think that perhaps the ECMWF might have a financial stake in windy. Does it?
Thanks for listening.
-
@reagandisco Hello, we are thinking about adding this option in the future, thank you for your feedback.
-
@korina Not a Premium user but I have been a user since the ‘early days’ and have asked for this before. I concur that the other models are better depending on location and in general, I’m afraid (I’m a European too!), the GFS model, though less precise, is more accurate. The other ‘setting’ which does not appear to be a setting are the pressure isolines, which revert to ‘off’ every time I leave the website, a real pain. But keep up the good work, I love Windy!
