Route Planner for iPad
-
Thank you got this outstanding feature. However, it does not appear to be available on iPad or iPhone or I suspect on other tablets. I am a flier and a sailor. This would be a very useful tool for reference while on the move when the use of a laptop is not convenient. Do you have plans to make the Route Planner feature available to tablets?

@Norfolk-Demon
It would be a good idea to have the route planner available on tablet. This point has already been discussed:

On phone the small screen would make it too difficult -
Granted, iPhone probably too small, but iPad - yes, very convenient for activity people on the move. Any plans for this?

@Norfolk-Demon there is no specific date set for this feature to be added. We are constantly improving and creating new features. At the moment there are different features that have a bigger priority.

It would be nice to know this didn’t work before you took my money, I wouldn’t have purchased! What a rip off! Showing it and not supplying it.

On the iPad it s working when you use the webiste instead of the app but the route planner (VFR, IFR...) doesn t want to show...can you check it please?

Hi @5217, I am sorry you feel this way.
Windy Premium promises weather updates 4 times a day instead of 2, one hour forecast instead of 3-hour steps which leads to higher accuracy of the weather forecast. You can also customize the default layer and we are working on more features.
These features are delivered to you via Windy Premium, Route planner isn't part of that.The Route planner is still a relatively new feature and we will think about implementing it on iPads as well in the future.
Thank you for your understanding

@petra-pik I only just discovered the route planner and it’s brilliant. I am offshore sailor (due to the pandemic I have not been offshore for a year, which is why I only just discovered the route planner) and this is invaluable (I had been asking for it for a while). But to have it work on the iPad app would be even better as the IPad is the absolutely standard interface on many sailing boats (Navionics Boating app, for example, is the standard app for navigation). But anyway, thanks to all involved.

@petra-pik PS the thread above implies you should be able to make the route planner work on the iPad if you use a browser instead of the app? I just tried this using Safari and I can’t see how to access it. Any clues would be appreciated.

@afurley
On iPad using browser instead of the app to get Route planner was a demand
https://community.windy.com/topic/9013/windy-launches-route-planner/160?_=1593593805371
It does not mean that it is feasible and already planned. The answer was ‘ I think we can give a tablet try ‘.
Unfortunately this still has not been developed and it is not possible to get the Route planner on iPad even through the browser. Hope it will change.
