As a paying subscriber can I not be able to save my view as rainfall,  instead of the default Wind?</p>

Unfortunately, you cannot. The default map is wind and you cannot change it (not yet,...).<br />
However, you can save the rainfall map as a bookmark and directly open Windy with this link to get immediately the rainfall map</p>
