Soaring Maps and Route Planning

Windy´s Skew-T feature was such a nice addiction for Windy, so thanks already!!

Then after the launch of this new "Flight Planning" feature, most directed at powered flight, perhaps soaring pilots could also count on a feature for planning Cross Country routes?

Based on potential available energy, lapse rate and the wind strength at levels a xc planning tool doesn´t sound too far fetched!

If the models could be refined to the point of accounting for orographic wind/terrain interactions, Windy would simply be the most advanced xc flight planning software out there.
