@korina Disappointing to see yet another app update without addressing location permissions on Android.
By now, there were multiple posts pointing out the inability to give permission to the app to have access to location not only "when using the app" but "all the time" which seems to be the root of a problem for people that have chosen to use GPS as startup location on their widgets.
In any case, Happy New Year :)

@Korina
Hi,
with update 27.3.1 the location loss doesn't occur anymore on my phone - only problem is, it seems you've achieved this by blocking any updates of the widget facepalm :-)In short: Location stays in the right place, but timeframe doesn't get any updates => Today is Thursday, widget still shows Wednesdays weather data.
Windy has permission to run in background, plus this problem occured only with the latest update..Anyway, I wish you a good start in 2021 combined with the hope, that you are able to assign this bug to a really gifted programmer in 2021.
This widget is a showcase to your app, not being able to fix this bug for months is just sad :-(
UPDATE
Just rebooted my phone, afterwards the widget came up again with the right location, followed 30secs later by a totally messed up position. "Schlieren" which is hundreds of kilometers away from where I'm right now. That's where my VPN terminates. It has nothing in common with my GPS pos.
Boot => GPS pos => 30 secs => VPN pos without any further updates.
I've turned off Google location accuracy in my settings, without any change in this behaviour.
So overall, the latest update made the problem even worse. -
@complecz Thank you for the explanation of your problem. Using VPN can affect the position. Did you try to turn it off?

@korina
Sorry, but I won't turn off my VPN connection, because you're not able to fix this bug. And I guess, I'm not the only person using VPN and windy. You can't seriously suggest, that every VPN-user switches off his VPN connection?!Any other location-based app that depends on gps, is working just fine, with VPN turned on!
It's possible, that an active VPN connection may lead to a slightly different behaviour of the location api in android and that it needs to be handled in the right way. However, like I stated before, every other app on my phone is just working fine except windy...
So again, please assign this bug to a competent programmer, who knows what he's doing and it will be fixed in a minute.

I am experiencing the same problems on my Android 10 smartphone and tablet. I am always getting wileather data in the widget from locations I have been last week. I am at home since Saturday in the evening, but it displays current weather forecast for old positions again after auto-refreshes of the widget.
I am using Windy app version 27.3.1.I am not using a VPN service exiting there. I am just using Blokada that utilizes a local VPN to provide ad/tracker blocking.
