Android: http windy.com links do not open in app

The Android Windy app seems to register itself for windy.com urls. However, each time I tap a windy.com link (e.g. in WhatsApp or Gmail) Android asks me if I want to open the link in windy or browser, nothing happens if I choose the windy app.

Im not sure if this is the answer but in Android Settings, Apps and Notifications, find Windy. In Windy, go to Advanced and look at "Open By Default". The "Open Supported Links" setting may need to be altered to "Open in this App"

@dibster thanks, but that has nothing to do with this issue. Of course windy must be registered for opening windy.com links in order for this to work. This is the default and it is set.
