IBM GRAF Model
-
Hello Windy Team,
Do you have a plan to add the IBM GRAF model, which is a high resolution model, to the application and the site? This model provides high resolution and is updated more frequently. It can be both a good model for users and a good alternative.

It is up to the conditions from IBM. If it will be significantly better than ECMWF why not. So far we have not see ANY results so can not compare it.
But what you see at weather.com or wunderground.com is not Graf model, it is some sort of multi-model composite, similar to what Meteoblue has.

@ergun_33
Can you provide us a site, where we can see IBM GRAF's forecasts?
Thank you in advance. -
@ivo
Thank you. I knew The Weather Channel was using the GRAF model, but I was wrong. I hope this model will be added to the Windy site later. -
@Gkikas-LGPZ
I think there is no website that uses this model. Despite my research, I could not find it. This model has been out for 1 year. Maybe because it is under development, it may not be fully available. If there is a site using this model, the Windy team can help us. -
@ergun_33
So it’s time to forget it. Up to now it’s just communication. Nobody has really seen it and tested it. There are other models which could be added to Windy before the « virtual » IBM GRAF model. -
hi there, GRAF is up & running since 2019, and running under P9 Servers with their GPUs.
GRAF incorporates the latest-generation global weather model, in the specific the Model for Predictions Across Scales which was developed by NCAR in conjunction with the Los Alamos National Laboratory.
At the moment all the forecast data inlcuded in The Weather Company APIs and coming as layers on Environmental Intelligence Suite are coming from GRAF. -
@Surf4Home So basically nobody knows anything aside from "it's new and improved". Still only does 3-6hr blocks, so how is that better than 1hrly suites
