Windy Air Quality vs. Purple Air
-
I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, California, and for the past several weeks during the wildfires and heavy smoke, I have been using Windy as a predictor of whether the next few days will have better or worse air quality in my area, and it has been fairly accurate.
Just today, however, there seems to be a disconnect between Windy (PM2.5 Air Quality) and PurpleAir. Windy is saying that the air quality is pretty reasonable in my area (light blue/light yellow, AQI of ~40-60), while PurpleAir shows Orange/Red AQI of 100+.
Was there a change made to the Windy air quality algorithm? -
@malai852 Hello, are you referring to a difference between Windy AQ stations or AQ layers? Air quality stations on Windy report real-time values, however air quality layers such as PM2.5 show forecast based on data from Copernicus (CAMS).
