D&P - Departure time in the past

The distance and planning tool is brilliant for having a look at the expected weather along a route however once i'm on the way i'm unable to view this accurately without changing my route to the most recent start position.
Could it be made that we set the departure date and time and then our progress is plotted along the route based on the departure time and our speed? For increased accuracy we could be prompted to enter our current position which would update our progress.
