Track Vendée Globe progress on Windy.com

@kbsali
Fine,
EDIT
I've found these videos, but cannot give the link, just a screenshot.They say that these maps are provided by Christian Dumard. This meteorologist is routing boats on this race and is known as a Windy user.
See his FB post of Nov. 19:

So, are these maps from a Windy API source?
But not exactly the plugin itself? -
@kbsali said in List of finished Windy Plugins:
Hi @ivo
thanks! :)
I have asked them on several occasions but never got an answer.
But to be honnest, I don't think they would complain : they use the plugin on their live videos now to present where the boats are! :)Really? Congratulations!
What a great result for you and the Windy community :)
-
@idefix37 you are right!
I spoke with him on the phone short after submitting my last message. He contacted me so we could integrate the routing his team has been working on. As you spotted, they are using the API and did not know how to turn it into a plugin. So we will "join forces" to make the routing bit available to everybody. We'll see if the race org starts using it.
Also https://www.facebook.com/marineweatherandstrategy/posts/3958519977516189@ivo Yoann Richomme, an offshore skipper, publishes new weather analysis every Monday, and he uses the plugin while explaining the situations :

@kbsali
Excellent news !
The video of Yoann Richomme is very interesting, from 4:18, ... for French speakers. -
Thanks @ivo :)
Just to make it easier to load and because you have approved the plugin, it is directly reachable through https://www.windy.com/plugins/windy-plugin-regadataBtw @ivo, would there be anyway to load any plugin "directly", without going through the extra presentation step? I've had a few users asking this over twitter.
-
Yes I know, but we want to propagate whole Plugins Ecosystem to motivate also other developers to jump in. Or our users to check the plugins page and see, what's new there.
-
@kbsali PS: I was race sailing also 16 years ago. Category "Mono Proto B". We won many races with Thompson T850 boat.
-
Super work! Thankyou very much!
Can you do a plug in for the two trimarans competing for Joules Verne Trophy? -
@rdretcanu I have contaccted both teams but no answer so far. I was told that Gitana is not willing to share their data.

Excellent work Windy and Kevin Saliou!!!
Kevin Saliou - any chance of the Jules Verne overlay too!?!? :)
-
@kbsali thank you so much Kevin! Awesome work :)
-
@Elysian-Captain sorry, as mentioned before, the teams don't want to share their data
-

@kbsali
Wow, nice to see your plugin on France 2 tv channel ! -
@kbsali Looking forward to combining routing to the plugin! I currently manually track racers in another app to generate routes, would be much better to get this from the race organizers who should have more accurate polars.
Seeing the VG organization make good use of Windy, especially the satellite overlay, in their official daily updates is awesome.
For the Jules Verne, the Gitana tracker has both boats and is updated hourly. Don't know if it's worth scraping the data. http://www.gitana-team.com/en/tracker.aspx
-
@kbsali has explain several times that Trophée Jules Vernes teams are not willing to share their data.
Read the posts above.
By the way, the 2 boats shown by Gitana tracker are the Gitana trimaran and the previous winner i.e. Idec skipped by Francis Joyon. They are not the 2 boats racing actually for the Jules Vernes trophy, Gitana and Sodebo. -
It would be interesting to get the polars of the boats. Suppose its secret and not available.
-
@rittels
Do you mean the polars of each boat sailing the Vendée Globe? I don’t think there are available. What is available are the polars of a ‘standard’ IMOCA class boat.
