  1. Log out from your account

  3. Click on Pay

Pick up Premium code

  1. Once you have successfully completed the payment, you will receive an e-mail from our provider, FastSpring.

  2. In "Windy CheckOut" email, you can pick up your code, which will have this format - "WINDYxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxxx".

Applying gifted code

Activation of the gifted Windy Premium code can be only done on desktop and is as follows:

  1. Login to your account or create one here

  2. Go to Windy Premium Page and click on "Restore purchases"

  3. Then insert the gifted code (WINDYxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxxx) and you are all set! Windy Premium will be assigned to your account.

But the process is still completely same.

Unfortunately, we cannot reset the Premium now, however, we can move the Premium to certain email account. So please contact us at support@windy.com and we can handle that there as well.

There was no "Windy CheckOut" email where to pick up any code with this format - "WINDYxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxxx".

The premium account was created on my email address which is not the one the person who receive the gift is going to use.

Am I wrong?

  • one-time purchase gives you access to Premium for one year without renewal nor subscription.
  • the regular subscription that renews annually automatically.

One Premium license can be assigned to only 1 account and is intended to be used by one user. At the moment, we do not offer trial for Windy Premium. Furthermore, a longer satellite archive is not offered via Windy Premium. One of the main Premium features is 1-hour forecast, which allows you to view detailed forecasts in shorter time steps.

Density - normally forecast is displayed in 3 hour intervals, but in Premium you will get forecast in 1hr steps, which is much more precise.

Quality - in free version, ECMWF is only updated 2 times a day (every 12 hours), in Premium this intervals lowers to 4 times a day (every 6 hours).

Speed - we offer faster delivery of our data.

I too found this confusing.
Suggest you call them β€œOne Time Purchase” and β€œRenewing Subscription”, because the phrase β€œbuy for one year” implies repeating cost.

Another suggestion: the main reason for upgrading for me is getting rid of advertisements. It would be nice to have a lower price to get rid of the ads, only. Just call it β€œRemove Ads”. Perhaps people like me would pay $20 but not $30.

Also, the differences in density, quality, and speed should be better explained. Examples:

In Density, what’s the difference between standard and high resolution? Resolution in terms of data quality, or resolution in time?

In Quality, what’s the difference between standard data and precise data? How much more precision?

In Speed, can you quantify the improvement? In low network loading conditions, wouldn’t any difference be negligible?
