Startup Map Location Incorrect - Forecast Correct
-
Hello,
Since updating to Windy 27.3.1, the startup map location isn't always correct - even though the forecast displays the correct location. See the screenshot below, where the map is centred on Toronto, Canada, while the forecast shows Vancouver, Canada (Vancouver is correct). This issue only occurs every third of fourth time opening the app, with force quitting in-between. Startup location is set to GPS.
Cheers,
Chris

@inajet Hello, do you see any error message in Error console?
-
@korina no error messages. This issue can be reproduced by force quitting and relaunching once or twice.
The blue location dot is at the correct place on the map - it’s just that the map is not centred on the dot for some reason.
-
@inajet Hello, unfortunately I cannot reproduce it. What blue dot do you mean? There is no blue dot on the screen.
-
@korina the blue dot that represents your current location. Mine has it. I can’t attach a screen recording to show you the issue occurring on my device; do you have an email address to which I can send it?
-
@inajet Sure, please send it to support@windy.com.
Option "show current location" (with blue dot) shows your current location, however start-up location can show something different.
-
@korina email sent with subject “ATTN: Korina”.
-
@korina just an update to let you know that this issue has been happening not just after a force quit, but also when launching the app after not using it for a while.
Did you receive my email with the screen recording?
-
@inajet Hello, I have received your video and reported the issue to our team.
What version of iPhone do you have please?
-
@korina thanks, Korina. I’ve replied to your email, but will give the info here as well...
I am running Windy 27.3.2 on an iPhone 12 Pro with iOS 14.3.
I’ll also mention that I have the radar set as the start-up layer.
I never saw this issue prior to Windy version 27.3.1.
-
@inajet Hello, we actually display location that your iOS device give us. So this is not a bug, but rather issue with your iOS system.
-
@korina as I mentioned previously, the blue dot which represents my current location is correct, which means that iOS is in fact providing my correct location. The issue is that Windy is launching at a location that is not centred on the blue dot.
This seems to be a Windy issue, not iOS. I have emailed you an updated screen recording to demonstrate the location of the blue dot.
-
@Korina did you receive my latest comments?
-
@inajet Hello, yes, I have received your comments. However we could not replicate this issue. I will consult this issue with the team once more and let you know.
-
Thank you, @korina.
-
@inajet Hello, we will keep this as a bug and will try to fix it in one of the future releases.
-
Thank you, @korina.
