Marine currents with a big difference between App and web
-
Hi,
I just observed a very big differences between marine currents between app and web. The difference is very high, and oposite.
App says 0.4 knots speed from south to north, and web says 1.4 knots speed from north to south. I was feeling something like north to south at 0.5 knots speed today at 17:30hs (local time)I was trying to understand if a time difference could be the problem, but I cannot found it.
I am on this site by now, so if you want to know the reality, just let me know and I will walk down to the beach and see in wich direction is flowing the sea.
Kind Regards,

Recently the web version of Windy has been updated. One of the changes / improvement concerns Currents. Currents data is now provided by Copernicus.Previously it was told by Nesdis, and it is still this provider which is used in the app until next update. Check About this data in the app menu.
This type of map is interesting at sea but not close to the coast as you show. First because this layer do not take into account the effect of seabed
and, more important, it does not include the effect of tidal currents as it is updated only once a day by Copernicus.EDIT: This layer now includes tidal currents which change near the coast with the time stamp.

Hi @eduardo-5e, new version of the application will be released within the next few days. After the release, the data will have the same provider.

My previous post mentionning tidal currents was wrong, as the new Currents layer based on Copernicus data now includes them. You see them changing with the time stamp.
