      Temperature

Displayed colors represent temperature in different altitude levels. Temperature values are shown in white figures.

Altitude is expressed as pressure levels

      Wind barbs

The length of each barbs indicate the speed of the wind. Long barb stands for 10 knots and short barb for 5 knots.

Wind direction is then indicated by long shaft. Shaft points to the direction from where the wind is blowing.

            Hello,
is it possible to see the altitude displayed as meters above sea level instead of pressure levels? If not, is there a plan to implement this view in the future?

            Thank you!

I don’t think this is possible because the weather models outputs are in pressure level. It is the way how they work, by pressure level, not by amsl levels.

@idefix37 it would be great for paragliding to work out what wind speed you have at which height. for example if you know that your take-off is at 1500m above sea level then you need to know what kind of wind speed & from which direction is to be expected at that height & above that height. is there another way how to easily find out this info using Windy?

In fact, pressure levels can be converted in mean altitudes or flight levels.
Using Sounding you get directly the mean altitude and the wind speed / direction.

                  1ABB3AC8-0878-479F-A1F7-E0517AC2A623.jpeg

On desktop right tap on your mouse.
In the app long press on screen.
Then click the altitude scale to get speed and direction of wind.
You can reduce the altitude scale to 7000m max.
Use the time slider to change time stamp.
