ECMWF Forecasted Temperatures Always Low
-
Hello,
I am posting from the panhandle of Florida. It always seems that the forecasted temperatures for ECMWF is about 5-10 degrees Fahrenheit below the GFS forecasts and the actual temps of that day. For instance, tomorrow it is forecast by ECMWF to get up to 66 degrees Fahrenheit and 76 by GFS. Without a doubt it will be closer to 76. What could explain this disparity?

It happens that we see a difference between forecasted temperatures and observed temperatures and differences between the forecasted temperatures within the different models but here you talk about 10°F between ECMWF and GFS, this is huge,...
what is your exact location ? Any screenshot to show the issue ? -

To leave a comment we need more information. Florida is vast.
I just take an example in Florida to compare forecast and observation.Yesterday at this weather station, ECMWF was 3°F below reported temperature, exactly same as GFS.
You may use this tool to compare ‘forecast vs observation’ at weather stations (it is better to use official stations, but not pws or madis ones)
