Cat.5 TC Niran approaching New Caledonia

Cyclone Niran is currently closing in on New Caledonia, moving very fast at 46km/hr towards the island.
Maximum winds are 240 km/h and the cyclone is expected to bring damaging winds, coastal inundation, heavy rainfall and dangerous seas to the region.

Cyclone Niran is currently the strongest storm in the Australian basin for 2021. It is continuing its intensification with maximum sustainable winds of 212 km/h (115 kt). The storm should be peaking in approximately 6-12 hours.
Niran's main target is the island of New Caledonia, which could take a direct hit as the cyclone moves closer on Saturday morning hours.
