Accuracy of Forecast in Puerto Rico
-
I noticed a sharp decline in the accuracy of the forecast for Puerto Rico. Today, for example, the winds are definitely over 25 mph and have been all night long. The forecast states 3mph until Sunday. Something is wrong. I never saw such high discrepancy before. Why is this happening? It is not just Windy - other weather apps also show the wind much below what it is.

Windy doesn’t make forecast, they show you the forecast provided by different models from different institues such as GFS, or IFS from ECMWF, etc...If you see a drop of the accuracy in the forecast at your place, first step is to use different models, to compare them and see if maybe one model could be better than another

You know that Windy is just visualizing Weather models developed by leading weather centers. I don't think they have recently changed dramatically their models.
Making a comparison between observation and forecast at this official weather station, there is not a very big gap concerning the wind. The discrepancy could be due to local wind conditions that global models cannot predict (only high resolution local models can do it)
You can use the tool "Observation vs forecast" and test different models:

In addition, Wind is the averaged wind and should not be confused with gusts.
