      Update: 19th of April, 10:00 a.m. UTC

Surigae is currently slowly weakening, while moving to the central and eastern Philippines over the next 24-36 hours. Surigae has downgraded into an equivalent of category 4 Atlantic hurricane and remains a powerfull typhoon.

Typhoon has maximum sustainable winds of 231 km/h (125 kt). Signal alert still remains for areas of Luzon, Visayas, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Samar and Mindanao. Strong winds with heavy rainfall causing flooding and landslides may occur in these areas within the next 24 hours.

      Update: 16th of April, 2:00 p.m. UTC

Tropical storm Surigae (locally Bising) has intensified into Typhoon Category 2 with maximum winds of 150 km/h (60 kt) and central pressure of 970 hPa.

Typhoon is expected to steadily intensify during the next 3 days and possibly become Cat.3 on Sunday morning.

Whether the typhoon will make a landfall is yet uncertain, however some models are predicting the landfall to occur near Central Luzon.

Model ECMWF predicts a landfall in the Central Luzon.
