@korina While we're requesting default-setting abilities, I'd like to suggest a changeable default display mode as well. I prefer the meteogram with the extra information most of the time.

@Korina Hi, it has been two years since Windy said 'we will consider it' to the enhancement request for setting a default model. Are you guys anywhere nearer to a decision?

@Korina That doesn't seem to be the case. I can easily get the startup LAYER to change to a different default. I cannot get the MODEL to change to a different default. So EVERY time I launch the app in the browser (firefox latest version), the weather model used to determine the forecast is set to ECMWF (which doesn't work well here in the Pacific Northwest) and EVERY time, I have to change it to HRRR.
This change is not reflected in the URL so I can't use a bookmark to make it 'permanent'.
This change is not picked up and persisted when I select "Last used layer" (TBC, it works for the layer but NOT for the weather model. -
Would love to emphasize on this. The ICON model is a 1000 times better but it will always default to ECWMF.
Please, give this a setting

Is there any news on this one? While you can change rhe default view, you can still not change the default weather model.

When setting a layer as default at start up, you save a model too. In the following example ICON is the model for next use of the app.
But from my own experience there are a lot of limitations :

You must not open the app by clicking on a widget,
-
You must leave the app with the same model,
-
You must not use the radar ans satellite layers otherwise the model switches to ECMWF.

You must keep your device in standby. Not completely off.

Thank you very much for clarifying. However, what I am looking for is the ability to change the model «permanently» in the app, primarily. This is what I understand Windy responds they will consider 3 years ago.
So that is my question to Windy; has it been rejected og is there a schedule to implement it?

I have to manually change every time the default model…that’s really weird!
Add an option into setting for it it’s not rewriting the full app. -

I see - but users have obviously been waiting more than four years for this. I switched from Windy to another app because of such shortcomings. I'm now at least using Windy in parallel and will see what happens … -

@Suty Are there any updates to this after a year? I still cannot save or otherwise select the HRRR model as my default/preferred model to start with. That makes windy completely unreliable at least in my region of SWFL since it defaults to ECMWF, which is not a reliable short term FC from my experience.
Been a premium user for a few years now, but have already cancelled my subscription b/c of this single issue. Happy to reup if you can confirm that windy will have this in play this calendar year.
