<![CDATA[Windy.com introduces Apple Watch app]]>Windy.com has already more than 8 developers and I, personally, should be just doing CEO job. But I could not resist the temptation. Few month ago, I have learned SwiftUI, and personally programmed Windy.com app for Apple Watch (not bad for being 47y old Internet veteran).

I have put there goodies, that should be on your wrist:

  • Compass with forecast wind rose
  • METARs, with super handy "notify me on update" button

As soon as we will see some first user feedback @SimonUrbanek (who overtook my iOS programming job) is willing put more functionality to it.

So enjoy Windy.com on Apple Watch and let us know how do you like it.

A note for Android users:
As much as I try hard, I do not know, or see, anyone wearing Android watch. A lot of my friends have some kind of sport tracking (Gramin, Coros etc) smart watch. But not a single Android watch out there.

You have Watch 3, this is why you cannot use this feature.

The Windy complication only provides "Show App on Apple Watch" in its preferences. In my iCloud account, Windy.com is listed as the most recently updated app and includes the phrases "Radar view for Apple Watch" and "New WatchFace". version 33.1.1.8. I'm probably doing something wrong, but I don't know what it is :)

However, Watch Faces are supported from Watch +4, older versions do not support them.

Only just found out about the watch app and love it. I think l have it all sorted however l am not sure how to add the Windy watch face. When l go to watch face on the watch and click that l get forecast watch face then scroll down and get add Apple Watch face then nothing happens. I am probably missing something obvious. But can you assist

Really steady scroll speed through the times and days touch each time to give you in depth data ! would love to see an animated map on the iwatch with precipitation and wind direction. one that you could zoom in with the cown wheel Finally would love to be able to change the text colours within the appor maybe you can but havnt found it yet . Big respect to the developers for their hard work.

I’ve been a windy user for years and recently got an Apple Watch. While the compass showing your live orientation is neat, I would find it more practical if the orientation was able to be locked to north at the top of the Watch screen. I am kitesurfing and that would be really useful at the beach to decide to stay, if wind forecast looks good or to go home :-)
Another important feature would be life wind measurements from nearest measurement point like in Windfinder app.

I would love to see a Windy complication for some brief forecast information on a watch face. Maybe a near term hourly or forecast line graph for a larger complication or current temp or wind for a small complication that I can then tap on to see the full Windy app. Would love some of the Windy forecast information currently in an iOS widget available in the Windy app on the watch. Already a premium subscriber for 1hr forecasts but if the Apple Watch app and complication with these added features were a premium feature that is also something that would really be value added for me in keeping the subscription.
