Windy.com introduces Apple Watch app

A lot of exciting WearOS news on the Google I/O yesterday, hopefully you will change your mind.
-
@ivo I'm a vote for Android watch.
-
@ivo Galaxy Watch Active2 here, love Android phone app.
-
@ivo does it work on all apple watches or just latest version? i have it on my iphone but i cannot add it on the watch so i suppose it is too old? thanks
-
@bavabici Hello, the app should work on all Watches.
-
I think you are living in a bubble. if you create an android app more people will use them (seriously a lot more than tit bits of apple watch users). its just a matter of putting in effort for the right market. Thanks.
-
@vayuputra Hi, thanks for your input. We evaluate the general feedbacks from our users and Apple Watch app was highly requested. But it doesn't mean we will not make an app for Android in the future.

Great feature. Three comments:
- Crown scrolls through time too fast
- Now doesn’t display correct values before scrolling first time
- Remember last screen used
Thanks!

Really pleased to see this. Displays wind for where I used to live.
However, moved home this week and the watch continues to display the old location. When I view the new location on the iPhone app, the watch sometimes briefly displays it before reverting to the old location. It seems fixated on the old location.
How is it supposed to choose where to display? iPhone current location? Or location selected in the iPhone app? -
Ah! Think I have found the answer myself. 'The system' does not know my WiFi network has moved. Because I am using the same WiFi gear, it thinks I must be back where it thinks that WiFi system was 🤨

My Apple Watch is a series 1, so the “latest” operating system it can be updated to is 4.3.2 (15U70), whereas the Windy app requires watchOS 7.2 or later.

nice to have it on apple watch
-
@chriz Hello, thank you. What values does it show the first time?
-
I have been in touch with Apple Support who took me through
Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network
Reset Location & Privacy
That looks like it has fixed it, and my iPhone now shows my correct new location. Windy on the watch then reasked permission to access my location but still shows the old location. It seems to have cached it once and for all? -
@antipole Hello, watch displays location according to GPS, you need to allow apple watch to get access to your GPS.
-
@kez77 Hi, Windy Apple Watch are compatible with 7.2 iOS or higher.
-
@antipole Hi, I would recommend to reinstall the Windy Apple Watch app and see if it makes any difference.

@ivo thanks for working on the Apple Watch app! I am a sailor, and I like the simple compass rose approach with the wind speed/direction. It would be helpful to see some forecast information, as all I see is “now” and typically being able to look a few hours into the future, for the watch app, would be beneficial (It’s fine to go below deck to look at the more detailed information on Windy on the iphone or ipad, but a simple look on the watch while at the helm would be great!) Also can’t seem to select another location - that would be good as well.
Thanks!Update…I found the forecast function (rotating the bezel), so the question is just related to selecting location. Thanks again!
-
@sumfun Currently, you cannot change a different location, but we will take it into account.

Just got an Apple Watch and enjoy the Windy update. I would love to see a Windy complication for some brief forecast information on a watch face. Maybe a near term hourly or forecast line graph for a larger complication or current temp or wind for a small complication that I can then tap on to see the full Windy app. Would love some of the Windy forecast information currently in an iOS widget available in the Windy app on the watch. Already a premium subscriber for 1hr forecasts but if the Apple Watch app and complication with these added features were a premium feature that is also something that would really be value added for me in keeping the subscription.
