Why is premium more expensive on Windy.com?
-
I live in the US.
A premium annual subscription through iOS is $18.99. Apple takes 30% which means Windy gets $13.29.
The same subscription directly from windy.com is $20.89. The payment processor FastSpring only charges 8.9% which means Windy gets $19.03.
I would much rather pay Windy directly instead of giving Apple the large kickback. Windy could charge as low as $14.47 through their website and receive the same amount per subscription. Why is Windy premium more expensive buying direct rather than through Apple's app store?

@cphoenix Hello, the price difference depends on taxes in each country. Also each provider charges different fees, therefore prices cannot be the same on all platforms.

I understand the prices should be different and that is my point. FastSpring charges 1/3 the fees of Apple, so I would expect to pay less by using this provider. Yet, the actual price is almost $2 more. Why?

@cphoenix This is basically strategy of payment gates, we use. Apple, Google, Fastspring.
We just set the price, and they do some magic calculation, that is beyond our reach.
