Reading windspeed
-
Hi there, very interested in this app but having trouble interpreting windspeed on the map. It seems to be based on a color system, however, I am color blind. It is very difficult for me to discern between the colors representing 0 km/h and 100 kmh, let alone 0 and 10.
Is there some way to associate the moving arrows with a numerical speed? Or does anyone have any suggestions as to how to get more info out of what I am seeing?
Thanks in advance for your time!

The trace length of each wind particle is proportional to the wind speed value. Nevertheless it is not easy to visually get wind speed values from traces of moving particles (which are rather useful to appreciate wind streams), without a color. There are two possibilities to get more wind speed info:
- modify the color shading palette via Main Menu / Settings / Customize Color Scale / Wind; changes are kept on server side for next user sessions
- click map to get on a popup values for both wind direction and speed for that position, when wind layer is displayed. Clicking down arrow control on popup displays a meteogram for same position, with all forecasted wind values for next 10 days.

You are right, colors used for Wind don’t allow to discern easily the wind speed values.
You can modify the color scheme and customise the color scale as explained in this article:

Thanks everyone, I appreciate your time and effort responding. I will investigate the color change options etc over the coming week, and try to figure it out. In the meantime if the wind is too much tomorrow when I arrive at my destination, then I will do things the old fashioned way and drive to the next place, rinse and repeat, until conditions are more suitable.
Cheers and thank you for your responses!
