RDPS/HRDPS
-
@giovanni519 Hi, thank you for suggestion, we are glad to collect ideas for new possible models. If we consider them as a good addition, we may implement them.
-
+1, HRDPS would be very desirable in complex coastal areas, such as those on the west coast of Canada with its many fjords and islands. Even in the Northern Puget Sound area (San Juans, Bellingham) in my experience HRDPS delivers the most accurate surface wind predictions. It seems to have an especially good accounting for local thermal effects, which often have a major impact on local winds in the summer around here.
This is the UI I currently use for HRDPS: http://canadarasp.com/RASP.html?param=sfcwind1,opacity=50,zoom=8,lat=49.19338120891148,lon=-125.31684978125907,model=hrdps,twodaydynamic=false,windgrams=false,wind_checkbox=true

This is a year and a half old and still no Canadian models on Windy. Are there any plans to at least add RDPS and/or GDPS in the near future?
-
@BWalshWX If we gather enough feedback, we may integrate them.
-
@Korina How do you/we go about gathering that feedback. The RDPS/GDPS are used more than the ICON model in North America, so that should be a good case for them
-
@BWalshWX Implementing a new model is a longer process. We do appreciate the suggestion and we'll take it into account.
-
I would love to see the Canadian model data in Windy.
Here is a previous thread I could find discussing these data:

@Korina What counts as feedback? I'd also love to see it
-
@Cheerio03 @BWalshWX @Giovanni519 I'm guessing feedback consists of views and posts related to this subject, and votes...so hit that thumbs up button :)

It would be great for a British Columbia paragliding/hangliding community if we could get HRDPS in Windy. This is the model most of us rely on.
Thank you for considering.
-
@ufonzak I would love to see this model be added, would be really helpful!
-
Another +1 here. I'd probably start paying for Windy if the HRDPS model could be added for some nice accurate Canadian forecasts 😉
-
@Korina +1 for HRDPS
-
Strongly agree, with other comments re: would be great for a British Columbia paragliding if we could get HRDPS in Windy. This is the best model for our flying sites.
Thank you for your consideration.

@Korina Hi, I've seen a multitude of folks requesting the addition of RDPS/GDPS/HRDPS to Windy, both in this thread and others within the Windy Community. Your website is top notch but I share some frustration that these requests seem to be pushed to the backburner. Is there any chance your team could make some headway with adding these models to your suite of data? As a paying customer (not to spit in the face of those who use this site for free...I used to be one of those folks), I'd appreciate some tangible follow-up. Much appreciated.
-
Hi @Giovanni519, this model is not planned at the moment, however, I will definitely forward this to the next planning for consideration because of requests here.
We don't want to ignore any requests from our users, however, there can be other issues or barriers in the implementation of some features.

@Ondřej-Šutera
Happy to hear you will consider the addition of Canadian model data. Here are some resources regarding access and usage for the Meteorological Service of Canada (MSC)'s open data.

As a Canadian and subscriber, I'd like to add my vote to get this model.
-
Take my vote!

I also vote for some Canadian models on Windy, all of which are available for free and often have better resolutions than their American counterparts.
