Windy 3D mode is back!
-
great - fantastic! keep it!!
-
I really love this change....how do I find the full globe?
-
There is absolutely NO advantage of the 3 D mode, if you wanna know about the global weather.
The one and truly ONLY point is that you see the countries (landmass) in real size.
Anything else is really bad. i.e. why does swapping to 3D mode always change the layers I had chosen? 3D mode does NOT remember my settings. That's utterly crap ... and just one example out of many that don't work well on 3 D !!
So, if it was after me, I do NOT need any 3 D mode, not at all.
3D mode once was well, when the precessor of windy.com worked together with google earth. so why did you stop that ? That once already was a well working version, already years ago. Bit what you present now is nothing but development to the worse. -
@przemo1986 wiadomo kiedy będzie aktualizacja aplikacji mobilnej do 3 D mamy już połowę sierpnia

@wedda Actually there IS an advantage to having the Globe view i.e. 3D mode in addition to the Flat Earth view. 3D allows us to to observe POLAR and CIRCUM-polar weather and atmospheric situations in a 'more realistic' manner than the Flat Earth view... and to SEE WHERE Everything on Earth interconnects.
Here's an interesting example of how/why this is both interesting and important: Shortly before Windy.com went to the Flat Earth form, I was able to observe - pretty close to real time... the wind blowing north from Europe, up over Scandinavia, over Greenland, over Canada & Alaska and actually drop down on the Bering Sea where I live... not only was that interesting - from a global perspective, a Technological ACHIEVEMENT and a computer programming success as well, BUT the next day a European BIRD (Eurasian Bullfinch) was spotted here probably having been lofted and carried by that polar wind! That species has been seen here before (2x that I know of) but only having arrived via the winds that carried it from the Mediterranean, over Central Asia, China, Siberia etc., and then via typhoon winds, here.
OK, so it's a bird. Well, there are other reasons for wanting to see and understand planet wide circulation of air and water. Obviously: Forest Fire Smoke, Radioactive Plumes, Volcanic ash, Shipping and transportation AEROSOLS, INSECT migrations... the list is pretty endless... and it's kinda important to WANT to see this so as to learn how and where to reduce our negative effect on the ONLY planet we depend on :)
It's pretty much a 'connect the dots' thing. 'This is like this - because, That is like that.'
Other practical and philosophical reasons for wanting to keep 3D views: We all live IN the same Space Ship and being able to use Windy 3D to observe the interconnections is not just a 'fun' activity and 'diversion' but is essential to understanding, learning and teaching ourselves that we ALL are literally in the same little blue planet boat.
It's make it work time NOW, for ALL of humanity. We can't call Jean Luc-Picard to give us directions so as to save the ship... we COLLECTIVELY gotta figure it out and work at it.
WINDY.COM and 3D view IS ONE VAST and AMAZING TOOL that can help! :)
And, yeah... there are computer bugs to work out... like retaining the settings between Flat Earth 2D and Globe-Earth 3D... so give the developers a chance to work it out and add to the marvel that Windy.com and it's 3d view really is.

Very informative web site about weather
-
Very good tool.
-
Checked it. This is GREAT!
-
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I'm so excited this feature is back!!!
-
Очень мне нравиться !
-
OK dobre
-
I bought premium. When is 3D premium only and when might it be available for mobile ?
-
I like it, making me like being a Premium member of the best weather app on the planet even more.
-
I really LOVE the new 3D Mode, please keep it !!!
-
This 3D feature is super! Especially on the higher latitudes, the shapes of the countries and weather systems are more realistic and more comparable to the areas closer to the equator. (I always struggle with the fact that Greenland seems the same size as all of Africa and that Alaska seems to be 10 times the size of Texas on the Mercator map.)
The toggle between 2D and 3D is very helpful to view the right relationships. Thanks! -
Es una aplicación increíble y útil.
-
so beautiful that i haven't found words
-
This is really an awesome feature.
The only thing I would add is to populate named storm systems. Maybe on mouse pointer hover-over. -
I would say it is already the case: in mode 3D + Hurricane Tracker, OnMouseOver displays storm name and values of wind and pressure:

Kiedy będzie aplikacja z 3D od prezentacji strony minęło sporo czasu a aplikacji nadal nie ma.
