Can anyone suggest a way to add some kind of web authentication and heartbeat to a WPF app?

      Hi there,
I have a WPF app that I would like to add some basic username : password authentication to (not locally, web based) and a heartbeat after that. This way I can ensure the users app is closed if I get an invalid heartbeat response etc.
I have done some googling and everything seems to use some odd work around with embedded web browser controls and 3rd party auth systems or just let the users auth with google using OAuth.
Any GitHub examples or articles or just suggestions of how I should go about this appreciated.
