There is a particular sequence of events that cause the wrong map values to be displayed.

      1. Start with the hourly forecast for your location displayed on the bottom
      2. Select Temperature in the map and Icon (or other non ECMWF) in the hourly display.
      3. Now go to the Satellite or Radar view in map. Note that Icon is still selected at the bottom.
      4. Go back to Temperature in the map. Even though Icon is selected, the view is refreshed and shows ECMWF temperature values in the map.
      5. You have to select something other than Icon and then go back to Icon to get the correct values displayed.

The basic issue is that after returning from the Satellite or Radar view, the map always defaults to ECMWF rather than what is currently selected. Because of this bug, I've been confused several times by the values displayed in the map.

@btschumy Hello, I have tested this behaviour and it did not happen to me.
If the detailed forecast is opened at the bottom, forecast model does not change.

        What browser do you use?

@korina I have reproduced this in both Safari and Chrome on macOS.

The selected forecast model at the bottom does not change. However, the values displayed in the map do and are not consistent with the selected model. ICON is still selected but the value being shown are for ECMWF.

Another way to see this is by looking at the URL. This normally gets rewritten as you select different model at the bottom.

Which the hourly forecast open at the bottom with ICON and (say) temperature displayed in the map you see:

          https://www.windy.com/40.140/-105.158?icon,temp,39.660,-105.158,8,m:eL2adfT

If you now select satellite in the map, you get:

          https://www.windy.com/40.140/-105.158?satellite,39.660,-105.158,8,m:eL2adfT

If you go back to temperature it becomes:

          https://www.windy.com/40.140/-105.158?temp,39.660,-105.158,8,m:eL2adfT

Note that the "icon" parameter has been lost, causing it to display ECMWF values in the map. This is despite the fact that the ICON model has been selected the whole time.

The fix for the bug is when changing to a map options that has different models, you need to see what is selected in the hourly settings and use that. Note that if you don't have the hourly forecast at the bottom, the map model changes to ECMWF when returning from the Satellite option to Temperature. This is another possible fix, but I'd prefer if it remembered the model as you go from Temperature -> Satellite -> Temperature.

          Hope that helps clarify things.

@btschumy Hello, this is a common behaviour when you choose a layer that has only 1 model ECMWF such as Satellite or some Air quality layers.

@korina It may be a common behavior, but it is a wrong behavior. Either the selected model should revert to ECMWF if that is what you are showing in the map, or the map should show the values that are selected (ICON in this example). As it is it is very confusing. You think you are seeing ICON values but you are really getting ECMWF.

Unfortunately, not all maps have all models available. A good example is fog. It is only ICON-EU. At this stage, you should know what maps have not all’models available otherwise when you are back to your original maps, it can be confusing. Good news is that majority of the maps have all models available !

@btschumy Hello, I understand your point. However the values for e.g.ICON model are visible in the detailed forecast, data visible on the map is a separate section.

@korina @yves70 I understand that not all models have the same data. My concern is that normally the map shows the same values as hourly forecast panel. As you click different models, the map is updated as well as the hourly forecast (except for Meteoblue). However, if you follow my instructions, you end up with one model selected (ICON) yet it is ECMWF values displayed in the map. There is no way the user can easily know this and it is confusing.
