      Re: Windy offers Sounding Forecast

      Hi guys,
I often use the sounding forecasts and skewT diagram.
They're very useful, but could you add sounding forecast also for ICON and NEMS models , please?
It would be great, thank you for your special job.
      Greeting from Italy

In Plugins, Sounding allows to select ECMWF, GFS, ICON, ICON-EU (on desktop, change models in same way as for forecast layers, in bottom right corner of screen)

          How to use this plugin:

It can be used also with tablet or phone via mobile web, but not in the app.

@idefix37 Thanks but I still don't understand. How do I know if the air is stable or unstable?

The air is considered as unstable if at the moment of the day you check the sounding, a parcel of air slightly elevated (because of the wind, because of a local over warming,...) is higher in temperature than its environment. The consequence is easy to understand : this parcel will continue to go up (because it is warmer) until finally its temperature will be equal or lower than its environment (this level can be seen on the sounding). The portion of air from the ground till this level is considered as unstable. This the way you create clouds and when the atmosphere is very unstable you create cumulonimbus which means storms. This is why a sounding is very useful

In this example of today, here I know that the day is stable, but I don't know in the diagram how you understand it. This Stuven diagram I don't understand, the Skew-T I understand

The main difference is Windy Sounding shows vertical temperature axis and Skew-T chart shows skewed ones (tilted), with additional information.

Skew-T charts are also available in Windy website plugins, not in the mobile app, or you need to bookmark https://www.windy.com/plugins?45.706,0.000,3

Ok, in this pictures I know that the air is stable because the Yellow line is at the left of the Red line, so the particel that goes up is more cooler than the enviroment.
In the Stuven diagram of Windy, I don't understand!!!!
The grey line is ever on the right of the red one, so I understand that the air is ever unstable!!!
