It seems like the API of weather.gov could be used to retrieve useful info in the US (Wind speed and direction, temperature).

All of the information presented via the API is intended to be open data, free to use for any purpose. As a public service of the United States Government, we do not charge any fees for the usage of this service, although there are reasonable rate limits in place to prevent abuse and help ensure that everyone has access.

I have tried the following endpoints:

      https://api.weather.gov/stations?state=CA&limit=10

Gives a list of the stations

      https://api.weather.gov/stations/KPAO

Has details for the KPAO station

      https://api.weather.gov/stations/KPAO/observations

      Has the weather observations.

It seems like github has a few repo accessing the API but the data look easy to parse anyway.

That would be an helpful addition to windy !
