Ida downgraded to Cat.1 and moving east

Ida is currently turning northward over southeastern Louisiana with maximum winds of 120 km/h (65 kt). Severe weather threat will continue along the Gulf Coast today as the storm moves north.
The storm is bringing storm surge, wind damage and flash flooding. A threat for a few tornadoes still remains as the tropical system Ida begins to curve to the east.
Affected areas will be southeastern Louisiana, southern Mississippi, southern Alabama, and the western Florida Panhandle

Hurricane Ida is making landfall near Port Fourchon, Louisiana with maximum winds of 241 km/h (130 kt).
Ida is moving northwest at 17 km/h per hour and battering Louisiana with powerful winds, torrential rain and dangerous storm surge.
Ida caused power outages for hundreds of thousands of people, destruction of building and significant flooding. Rescue teams are currently trying to get to residents who called for help.
Tornado watch is in effect in parts of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida. Storm surge could affect the Louisiana and Mississippi coast.

Ida further strengthen to maximum winds of 240 km/h (130 kt) and higher gusts while remaining Category 4 hurricane, being very close to becoming Category 5. Minimum pressure is 935 mb (27.61 inches).
A dangerous storm surge of 10 to 15 feet is expected from Morgan City, Louisiana, to the mouth of the Mississippi River on Sunday upon the hurricane landfall.

Ida has intensified into Category 4 hurricane on early Sunday morning with maximum winds of 185 km/h (100 kt). Ida is expected to be an extremely dangerous major hurricane and further strengthening is imminent as the it nears the Louisiana and the Gulf Coast.
Storm is forecasted to make landfall on Sunday afternoon or evening, but tropical storm-force winds could reach New Orleans on Sunday morning.
Mandatory evacuations have been ordered for several parts of Louisiana. Residents in low-lying areas are urged to evacuate before the storm arrives, since the impacts are expected to be very severe.
Hurricane warning is in effect from Intracoastal City, Louisiana, to the mouth of the Pearl River.

Ida has strengthened into a hurricane Category 1 with maximum sustainable winds 138 km/h (75 kt). Ida is expected to continue to intensify as it approaches the Northern Gulf Coast.
Hurricane is likely to strengthen into Category 4 and have significant impacts in the central Gulf Coast from southeast Louisiana to coastal Mississippi with flash and riverine flooding.
Extremely dangerous conditions are expected when Ida reaches the coast of Louisiana. Hurricane force winds are expected on Sunday along the Louisiana coast, including New Orleans.

Tropical Storm Ida is currently strengthening in Caribbean Sea with maximum sustainable winds of 101 km/h (55 kt). Ida is forecasted to intensify into a major hurricane and strike the northern U.S. Gulf Coast on Sunday.
Hurricane is expected to bring life-threatening storm surge, rainfall flooding, destructive winds and tornadoes.
Hurricane watch is in effect for areas from Cameron, Louisiana, to the Mississippi-Alabama state line. A storm surge warning is issued from the Texas-Louisiana state line to the Alabama-Florida state line. Tropical storm warnings continue for Cayman Islands and western Cuba.
