Why is it not possible to see the isobars in satellite images or radar images? This possibility is of great interest for those who are learning meteorology.

  • satellite layer: real time observation, validity = (NOW-12h)
  • pressure data layer: forecast model, validity= NOW (rounded to hours I guess)

Yes, the weather stations show the current measured values (observations). When you select them with any forecast layer (Wind, Rain, Pressure...) there is automatically an 'inconsistency' when you look at predicted weather for the next 2 or 3 days. Reported values are at day 0 and forecast data at days 2 or 3. They no longer match.
For me it's not at all a problem.
It is about the same with Radar or Satellite (observations) with Pressure isolines (forecast). If a user wants to see the 12 h Radar loop, he must understand that the isolines will not match the radar images (excepted the latest ones of the loop).

As a similar case, Reported wind and Reported temperature should not been displayed at same time with all forecast layers. They show crazy values if the timeline is set 12 hours ahead and more... Windy needs a bit of understanding and training.

Thus overlay forecast of pressure isolines frozen at NOW over observations data layers available in [NOW - 12h] is useless (as already discussed in this thread)
