Route planning temperature error
-
Have a look at this: https://on.windy.com/5hdrq set the start time to +2d at 05h00.
saying -100°C for the temp… and negative wind speeds.

Hi,
It seems you have too many waypoints. By dividing their number by 2, the wind and temperature figures are more consistent.Remember that the resolution of ECMWF model is 9km, so there is no real benefit in having very close waypoints to each others.
-
@idefix37 Thanks. I'm uploading a gpx… how do I halve the number of points?
-
@dr-mdgrant-windy
I have deleted one waypoint out of 2 (clicking the cross near waypoints that need to be cancelled). Then you can drag them to better match your forecast trip. -
@idefix37 Thanks again. I've just done that:
But still get crazy temperature and wind speeds
The point forecast looks reasonable and correct:
-
Yes, I can't explain these strange values.
Developers should have a look at it. -
@idefix37 I'm new round here… is there a specific tag I can use to flag this to the developers?
-
@dr-mdgrant-windy
Your topic is already in Bug Reports category. I don't think there is a specific tag.
I have addressed my previous post also to the developer of the Route Planner. We shall see.. -
@idefix37 @dr-mdgrant-windy @marekd
The problem seems to come from the backend:
Weird values. It is very intermittent though. Speed does not appear to play a role, rather the number of waypoints. Probably an interpolation problem of some sort.
-
Hey guys, thanks for reporting the issue. It seems to be an interpolation error, we will check it out.
-
@marekd Thank you. Really appreciate the great work you and your team do.
This was for a bike race on Saturday, and with a bit of work figured out the wind; the planning tool enabled some great tactical decisions and I came 16th in my category.
-
@idefix37 @dr-mdgrant-windy @rittels It was quite tricky bug, but it should be fixed now. Thanks for your help!

@marekd Looks great! Thanks folks!
