Update 10th of September 2021, 10.00 pm UTC
Hurricane Olaf has made landfall in Baja California on Thursday evening and now is slowly moving towards the northwest at 10 knots (19 km/h) along the western coast of the Baja California peninsula.
Currently, located near 23.4 North 110.2 West, with maximum sustained winds near 80 knots (150 km/h), Olaf is expected to remain a hurricane strength as it moves close to the shore on Friday. A turn towards the west, out to sea, followed by a sharp turn southwestward is expected.
An unfavorable environment will then cause Olaf to start gradually weaken as it moves from the coast. Olaf is forecasted to weaken to a tropical storm on Saturday morning and become a post-tropical on Sunday morning.
Damaging winds, heavy rainfall, and life-threatening storm surge are spreading northward across the peninsula.
