Cyclone Shaheen strikes Oman

Cyclone Shaheen entered Oman between the states of Musanah and Suwaiq, bringing high winds of 120-150km/h, very heavy rainfall and flooding in the streets.
Based on the latest reports, at least 9 people as Shaheen slammed into Oman on Sunday.
The cyclone was downgraded to a tropical storm after it had hit land and it is currently carrying winds of 100 km/h.

Shahenen is bearing down on the capital city Muscat with winds of 139km/h. As a result, flights are suspended and residents are urged to evacuate the coastal areas.
North Al-Batinah, Al Dhahira, Al Buraimi and Al Dakhliya will be directly affected by the cyclone with heavy rain and high wind speeds.
The landfall of the storm is expected to be soon, the eye of the cyclone will reach land between 6 and 9 pm in the evening today.

Tropical cyclone Shaheen (Gulab) is positioned in the northwest of the Arabian Sea with rainy convective clouds and strong winds of intensity of 120 km/h.
Shaheen's path is expected to continue towards the coasts of the Oman during the next 24 hours with landfall on Sunday afternoon.
Tropical conditions will be mainly prevalent in the Fujairah and Al Ain. Residents are advised to stay away from beaches because waters are expected to rise.
Threats
Affected regions will likely experience rains with different intensity leading to flash flooding in low lying areas, storm surge and high winds.

Cyclone Gulab begun its landfall over Andhra-Odisha coast on Sunday evening. The storm is predicted to cross the north coasts with maximum sustainable winds of 75 km/h (40 kt) and higher gusts.
The landfall process will continue for the next 3 hours and the area of landfall is expected to be between Tekali and Moriguda in Andhrapradesh
The system may bring strong winds and very heavy or extremely heavy rainfall with a risk of flash flooding. More than 20 000 have been evacuated to shelters.

@michille By definition, swell period is the time required for one complete wave length to pass a fixed point, and it is given in seconds. So a swell with a period of 20 seconds will travel at 30 knots, while swell with a 10 second period travels at 15 knots.

Right if the speed is expressed in m/s, not in knots.
I may add that long period means higher energy of waves and consequently more damages on the coast.
