I have great consideration on windy platform, I am a pro sailor and find it very useful for putting together a lot of info on the same platform. So you are great guys, but reading your presentation below:

"In 2017 our team grew to 5 people and we have changed the name to Windy with nice and short address www.windy.com. During hurricane season Windy become major source of weather information for governments, institutions and individuals in affected areas, virtually saving the lives."

May be you are missing the point that the source of the governements are not you but the NOOA that is American and provide major party of your data. You are "only" visualization, you are not data provider nor data analytics. You have a really important role in democratization and disclosure making the meteo for everybody. So why this statement?

      cheers

      Alberto

@alberto51 Hello, thank you for your opinion. However Windy is used by governments and other official agencies as a source for data visualization, therefore we do not see anything wrong with our statement.

Your statement is only partly correct. Indeed the areas concerned by the risk of Hurricanes, strictly speaking, are monitored by the NOAA (NPC/NHC), but there are many other areas in the world that do not fall under NOAA. The other RMSC/TCWC centers, which monitor similar tropical phenomena in their area, are linked to the meteorological services of Japan, India, Australia, Fiji, New-Zeland, Indonesia and France. So all governments don’t rely on NOAA. The case of Hurricanes was given, I guess, as an example.

As @Korina said, Windy allow to visualise weather prediction and there are plenty examples of governmental organisations which uses Windy for that.

And I would underline that the majority of the data used by Windy does not come from NOAA, but from Europe more precisely from ECMWF, Copernicus, DWD and others.

Hi, i am really not use to write public posts like this, a hate being polemic, mine was only an advise because I think the guys of windy did a great job and there is no need to say that windy save the lives of people. This is not true. (The meteorological institution like NOOA, ECMWF etc and other around the world we could say they are...if you really need to. And founds money and brains has to go there and university for research.)

Why doing like many others that are selling most of the time crap like gold with marketing bullshit?
Guys you do not need this! just say the truth...you help million of people giving rapid access to weather info; for the happiness of peoples practicing sports and other activities!!

            cheers
            Alberto

@alberto51 What you are saying is right but only in case of that windy is undemocratic and hides its data resources.
The statement that you mentioned above it has been said metaphorically.
Also, you must take in consideration that the writer of the statement that you mentioned hasn't been born in England,The word "virtual" means unreal, but when adding the two letters: L & Y to the word ( the word becomes "virtually") the meaning changes completely and becomes real or practical.
In conclusion, this is not a problem in principals, but a minor grammar mistake.

I think that "major source of weather information" doesn't mean "major weather data provider"; the latest is unambiguously specified on Windy UI for each data layer rendered on maps.
Thus there is no any mistake or language abuse here. Then, to make peace, let's consider Windy as one of the best "Weather Data Portals".

                  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@alberto51 As @vsinceac mentioned, being a major source of weather information does not mean that we are the provider.

There is nothing wrong with the statement.
