      Hurricane Rick made landfall on the west coast of Mexico early this morning local time, bringing heavy winds 105 mph (168 km/h) and rains (5 to 10 inches).

      Heavy rains will likely produce flash flooding and mudslides, residents in the southern parts are advised to stay indoors.

      Rick is forecast to move further inland over southern Mexico throughout Monday and then rapidly weaken. Storm should dissipate over the mountainous terrain of southern Mexico tonight or Tuesday.

      Rick has slightly strengthened during the October 24 night while heading for landfall on Mexico’s southern coast.

      Maximum winds are 90 mph (144 km/h) and landfall is expected to be somewhere in the area from the seaport of Lazaro Cardenas to the resort of Zihuatanejo

      Hurricane Rick is nearing the Mexico’s Pacific Coast, where it is expected to make landfall Sunday night or early Monday The system is moving north with winds of 85 mph (136 km/h).

      Rick is forecast to strengthen and develop winds as high as 105 mph (162 km/h). A hurricane warning is in effect for points west of Acapulco all along the coast to Punta San Telmo.

      As it reaches the land, Rick is expected to bring flash flooding with mudslides, torrential rains and hurricane-force winds.
