Strange Radar echoes in Cuba
-
Today at 2021-10-28, at ~1000h CDT, I noticed a very strange radar artifact centered over the northern arch of Cuba. It was a well-formed, slightly spiral "sunburst) pattern, and was NOT confirmed by any other radar imagery I could find. My conclusion is someone in your network around Cuba is playing with the image. Possibly not something that should go un-noted, hopefully just an "oops."

As a resident of South West Florida, these bogus radar images which come from Havana and Camaguey Cuba significantly interfere with legitimate images over my area. Is there a way to block them or filter them out? This is not a one time thing. I see this swirl, especially from Havana, almost every time I use Windy radar layer.

Hello @502893, currently, there is no way to filter it.

I have seen those strange radar paints over Cuba in the past and to the best of my knowledge it's caused by 2 or more radars operating on the same frequencies...Any other input would be appreciated ......Merry Christmas

Two or more traffic radars transmitting at on near the same frequency operating in close proximity will interfere with each other. The degree of interference depends on radiated power, antenna pointing angles, and distance between radars.

@timbo814 Hello, those shapes are no longer displayed on the radar.
