Ipad OS 15 - windy.com page freezes
-
The page is crashing now sometimes, even with compatibility mode switched on.
-
@henryhunter: same isue in my android too.
-
@charlie0923 Hello, does it crash also with compatibility mode? Also what device and OS version do you use please?
-
Any prospect for a fix? Using the time slider with cloudbase to scroll forward always causes it to crash.

@henryhunter Hello, did you try to reinstall the app? I would also recommend to check if you have enough space on your phone.
What version of Windy do you have currently?
-
@korina Hi, I am using iPad, not phone, I have plenty of space. I am using the web page in a browser, not app. The problem is becoming worse - it crashes every time I use it.
-
Hello @henryhunter, we are currently releasing a new version of the application.
Once you have the new version and the app freezes for you, there will be a 'Graphic compatibility mode' button in the Menu > Settings you can enable.
In case the issue will persist after enabling the Compatibility mode, please, let us know. -
@petra-pik Thanks Petra, I repeat, I am not using the app, I am using the web page. The web page keeps freezing and I have to kill the tab and restart. I have already set “graphics compatibility mode” to On. Thanks.
-
@henryhunter Hello, do you have the latest version of your browser? Also what version of OS do you have? I would recommend to use Mozilla browser.
-
@korina Hello, I answered this question several times already 🙂 yes, latest version of Safari browser, but problem is the same on Chrome, and it also crashes in the Windy App, so I don’t think the problem is related to the browser. iPad os 15.2.1
To repeat, when I scroll the time line forwards, usually with cloudbase, the whole thing freezes and I have to restart. If you want I can send a video.
-
@henryhunter Hello, please try the following, in the Safari browser go to Settings->Safari->Advanced->Website data->"Windy.com"->Delete (swipe left).
-
@korina thanks Karina, I tried that. It worked ok for the first five minutes or so, then it started freezing again, and it still freezes under the same conditions.
-
@henryhunter Hello, we were unable to replicate this issue. Your iPad is already quite old, therefore the issues may be connected to that fact. I would recommend to use the app, instead of browser.
Additionally I would recommend to try to use Mozilla browser.
-
@korina ok thanks. I understand it’s difficult to diagnose if you can’t replicate it. My iPad works fine for everything else! So a bit weird that the only issue is on windy.com. Also it’s the same in the app. I will try Mozilla but it’s pretty odd to use a separate browser just for this one purpose.
-
@korina Mozilla freezes too
-
@korina Is there something which would cause my iPad to load a different version of the web page? When I access the web page on a different iPad (also running iPados 15.x) I see a slightly different presentation. The side bar with all the configuration items and the slide for wind height etc. is always shown, but on my iPad I see just a few icons, and I hit the menu icon to pop out the side bar. I’m logged in as the same user in either case, so my user settings are all the same. Could this be some clue about why the page is crashing all the time?
-
@henryhunter Hello, could you please send us screenshot examples at support@windy.com?
-
@korina email sent

I have the same issue but in my Iphone 6S plus. It freezes when moving the coursor to know the forecast of coming days. It happens after last IOS upgrade to 15.3.1
-
@tatoy Hello, please try to turn on the Graphic Compatibility mode in settings. It should solve the freezing issue.
