Windy + IFTTT (or Google/Echo/etc) that will turn off smart plug when wind exceeds 30km/18mph
-
Hi, thank you for reading my question. I am new to some of the latest automated things, but have been installing smart devices in my home for over 6 years. For example, I have 80+ smarthome wifi devices on a 5node mesh network on the Amazon platform.
Before you begin critiquing, know that I spent a lot of money before I learned anything and made lots of mistakes. Looking back, I would do things very differently.
Nonetheless, my wife bought several inflatable yard decorations for the holidays without much consideration for the frequent & dramatic winds in our area.
My question is: what device/system/setup can be used to shut off the inflatables if the winds exceed a threshold? My first instinct is to buy a wifi weather station that's compatible with smarthome devices. However, the inflatables are on smartplugs, which causes me to wonder if a premium wind monitoring app connected through IFTTT would be more cost effective and just as good.
I apologize if this has been answered before. I have been searching for hours without success and finally decided to post this for help.
Thanks for your time and consideration.
